A Weekend in Collioure: Our Itinerary

Casa Païral is the perfect starting point to discover Collioure at your own pace, enjoying the comfort of a family home after your walks. It is in this spirit of simplicity and relaxation that we have designed the ideal itinerary for you to discover our Catalan town in two days. Between historical heritage, swimming moments, and local gastronomy, here are our best tips to fully enjoy your escape.

Saturday: Immersion in the colors of the town

Starting your weekend with a stroll through the cobbled streets of Collioure is the best way to feel the pulse of the town. Wandering down Rue Saint Vincent or Rue Bellevue, you will discover pastel-colored facades lined with artisan shops and art galleries. This is the perfect introduction to the colorful and artistic atmosphere that so captivated Fauve painters like Matisse and Derain.

On your way to the town center, let yourself be surprised by the sublime perspectives and the unique architecture of the city. Your steps will naturally lead you to the iconic Notre-Dame-des-Anges church. Proudly set by the sea, it offers a postcard setting that is impossible to ignore. Take the time to step inside to admire its baroque altarpieces gilded with gold leaf, a hidden treasure behind its stone walls.

For lunch, we suggest settling in at Casa Léon. This warm spot near the beach is a local institution. Catalan flavors, fresh fish of the day, and a friendly atmosphere make it a perfect stop to recharge before heading back to the seaside. This is where you can truly taste the generosity of our terroir.

The afternoon is dedicated to relaxation on Saint-Vincent Beach. Whether you enjoy swimming in crystal-clear waters or simply gazing at the bay, there is something for everyone. The view of the castle fortifications and the coming and going of Catalan boats, called pointus, is absolutely splendid.

To extend this moment of pleasure, treat yourself to an artisanal ice cream at Les Glaces du Canigou. Our personal recommendation: the Catalan cream flavor, a sweet tribute to our regional traditions. It is the perfect refreshing break before heading back to your accommodation.

From 4 PM, you can check into your room at La Casa Païral. Our lush garden, a true haven of peace protected from the wind and bustle, offers a soothing setting to end the day in calm. Take the opportunity to read a book by the pool or simply listen to the rustle of the leaves of our century-old magnolia tree.

In the evening, head to Le Neptune restaurant. Perched above the sea, it offers a panoramic view of illuminated Collioure. It is a memorable experience to close this first day, before returning to the calm of your room for a peaceful night, cradled by the serene atmosphere of our home.

Sunday: Catalan traditions and grand panoramas

After a restful night, enjoy your morning at La Casa Païral. With us, check-out is possible until 12 PM, giving you plenty of time to savor a full breakfast under our magnolia or to prepare quietly at your own pace. Our buffet highlights local products, from artisanal jams to Collioure croquants, to start the day right.

Your first stop of the day will be the Traditional Market of Collioure. It is the must-visit gathering to discover local products: anchovies from the Roque or Desclaux houses, sun-drenched fruits from Roussillon, and local olive wood crafts. The atmosphere is festive, vibrant, and typically Catalan.

Continue your walk towards Platja del Port d’Avall beach for one last swim facing the Mediterranean. Located on the other side of the castle, it is a more serene spot that allows you to admire the steep reliefs of the Côte Vermeille plunging into the water.

In the afternoon, dive into history by visiting the Royal Castle of Collioure. Former summer residence of the Kings of Majorca, this imposing monument tells a significant part of our past. The view from the ramparts is spectacular and allows you to see the entire coast up to Cap Béar.

To end the weekend beautifully, enjoy a meal at Jardin de Collioure. This verdant and elegant spot offers fresh and refined cuisine in a very relaxing setting, ideal for a final moment of sharing.

A final walk through the old alleys of Collioure is a must before leaving. If you still have some energy, hike up the path through the vineyards to the Collioure Windmill. It is the most breathtaking viewpoint over the town, the church tower, and the sea.

Practical tips for your stay

To make the most of your weekend, here are our local recommendations. For your peace of mind, please note that Casa Païral has its own private paid parking lot, a rare and valuable asset in the heart of Collioure. This allows you to leave your vehicle in total safety upon arrival. For other visitors, we recommend using the parking lots at the entrance of the village, such as Cap Dourat, which offers free shuttles.

If you have the chance to stay a few extra hours, do not hesitate to take the coastal path towards Port-Vendres. It is an easy walk that offers wild viewpoints over the schist coves.

Leaving Collioure, take with you the sweetness of life and the shimmering colors that make this place unique in the world. We hope this weekend awakens your curiosity and makes you want to return to explore even more treasures of our region. Safe travels and see you soon at Casa Païral!
