Casa Païral welcomes you to the heart of Collioure, the ideal starting point to discover the natural landscapes and crystal-clear waters surrounding our hotel. Between the schist rock of the Pyrenees and the deep blue of the Mediterranean, our village offers a unique seaside setting. Whether you are looking for family relaxation or a contemplative hike, here is everything you need to know about our four iconic beaches and the must-see coastal path.
Saint-Vincent Beach is undoubtedly the most famous in Collioure. Located at the foot of the Notre-Dame-des-Anges church, it offers a postcard panorama of the most photographed monument in the region. This small beach of sand and pebbles is particularly popular for its stunning view of the bay and the Royal Castle. It is the perfect spot for a morning swim when the sea is still calm. After your bath, you can admire the pier leading to the Saint-Vincent chapel, a place filled with spirituality and wild beauty.
Right next to the Royal Castle, Boramar Beach stretches along the lively terraces of the town center. This is where the heart of Collioure beats. More than just a beach, it is a historic living space where colorful Catalan boats, called "pointus," are moored, recalling the village's past as a fishing port. Boramar is a pebble beach, ideal for those who prefer not to deal with sand. In the evening, the beach takes on a magical dimension with the castle's lights reflecting on the water.
Located on the other side of the Royal Castle from the historic center, Port d’Avall Beach is often considered the most comfortable by locals. It is wider than its neighbors and offers a beautiful stretch of sand, which is particularly appreciated by families with young children. This beach is bordered by a pleasant pedestrian promenade and offers a superb view of the entire bay of Collioure. It is also a popular starting point for kayaking or paddleboarding to explore neighboring coves.
Continuing your walk towards the south of the bay, you will discover La Balette Beach. It is the smallest and most secret of the four beaches. Nestled at the foot of the cliffs, it offers an intimate setting and a direct view of the Collioure bell tower. La Balette is a pebble beach, surrounded by magnificent villas and maritime pines. It is the preferred spot for those seeking peace away from the center's hustle. Snorkeling enthusiasts particularly enjoy its rocky surroundings where marine life is abundant.
To extend the experience, the coastal path is an essential adventure starting from Collioure. This marked path runs along the Côte Vermeille and offers breathtaking panoramas of the sea and terraced vineyards. Starting from La Balette Beach, you can begin a spectacular walk towards Port-Vendres. The path will lead you to wild coves inaccessible by car, such as the Anse de la Mauresque. The contrast between the blue Mediterranean and the green Collioure and Banyuls vineyards is of rare beauty.
To fully enjoy these beaches, remember that Collioure is a village where everything is done on foot. Parking near the seaside can be very difficult during the day. For your comfort, please note that Casa Païral has its own private paid parking lot. You can leave your vehicle safely at the hotel and reach each of these beaches in a few minutes' walk. After a day at the water or on the coastal path, you will appreciate returning to the calm of our garden and the freshness of our pool.
